The organization’s activists held several meetings with famous world policy makers at the event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of founding of the International Democracies Association.

The summit was held in Kraków, Poland on July 2-4. Well-known world policy makers took part in it, including Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Poland’s foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski, the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, the former Ukraine prime-minister and the ex-candidate for president of this country Yulia Tymoshenko, Lech Wałęsa, and many other famous persons of the world politics.

During the meetings and talks, the Movement for Freedom (MFF) activists discussed the problems of development of the democratic movement in the world, as well as the situation with human rights in Belarus.

“The world political establishment regards the problems of democracy in Belarus with great understanding”, Piotar Kuzniatsou, one of the participants of the summit, the MFF Homiel region coordinator, told. “Anyone to whom we talked said the words of support, wished us success, and gave us specific proposals and ideas of how we could improve the situation. In my view, the fact that the international community is non-indifferent to our problems is very positive for Belarusians”.

“We were honoured to participate in topical panel discussions dedicated to the development of democracy in the world. Several meetings with the diplomats and policy makers from different regions of the world took place during this summit. Based on the results of the event, we can say that Belarus remains on the international agenda. The words of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and of the Poland’s foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski for the defense of democracy in Belarus proved this once again”, Ales Zarembiuk, the MFF Hrodna region coordinator, adds.
