Belarus between elections

Belarus Between the Local and the Presidential Elections – this is the name of the meeting held in Warsaw dedicated to the latest events in Belarus.

The representatives of the Belarusian and Polish human rights advocacy organizations take part in the meeting. Adam Busuleanu, the coordinator of the Belarusian European Exchange programme, is the meeting’s moderator. The Belarusian side is represented by the lawyer of the Viasna human rights advocacy centre Uladzimir Labkovich, the deputy head of the Movement for Freedom (MFF) Yuras Hubarevich, as well as the head of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Aleh Hulak.

The problem issues of the last local election, the current state of human rights in Belarus, and the prospects of the presidential election will be discussed during the meeting. The presentation of the Election Monitoring Results Report will take place as part of the event. The monitoring was performed during the local election in Belarus in 2010.

The conference is held in the premises of the Helsinki Human Rights Fund in Warsaw.

A similar event will also take place in Berlin in the nearest future.
