MFF disproving the information on activists’ buying over
The management of the human rights advocacy civil organization The Movement for Freedom (MFF) officially declares that the accusations of drawing the activists of other organizations with the help of money to the initiative group on delegating Alaksandr Milinkievich as candidate for president are completely groundless.
We could have ignored these immoral political games, but such statements are voiced by the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCHD) regularly of late which divides the national democratic forces.
At the same time, the accusations voiced by some leaders of the BCHD are disproved even by the party members and by several documentary proofs.
For instance, the BCHD Vitsiebsk member Uladzimir Simankovich – who was, allegedly, bought over by Nina Kavalova – has, first of all, flatly denied this in the talk with the MFF Vitsiebsk region coordinator Khrystafor Zhelapau. Second, he is an official member of the MFF, and, in his entry application, has expressed his written consent to collect signatures for the candidate from the MFF.
The BCHD also accused the MFF Homiel region coordinator Piotr Kuzniatsou who, allegedly, promised to provide assistance of the local projects to those who will collect the signatures for Milinkievich.
The BCHD Homiel region coordinator Kastus Zhukouski – who cooperates with the MFF within the Belarusian Independence Bloc (BIB) – has, in his official statement, flatly disproved the accusations against Kuzniatsou: “All negotiations performed today between the activists who are the members of the BCHD party and between Kuzniatsou were initiated by the BCHD itself, and could not be possibly described as “intended to buy somebody over”.
According to the regional BCHD coordinator, “the Homiel region activists of the BCHD party confirm their readiness to continue further cooperation with the MFF in the Homiel region, since we consider this structure a reliable partner, as well as the political force that could be trusted and could conduct, together with its partners, powerful and even victorious political campaigns”.
In his turn, the MFF Homiel region coordinator Kuzniatsou notes that the local activists of the MFF aim at closer cooperation with every entity of the civil and political life of the region. However, the possibility of buying anyone over has never been considered: “We offer partnership relations and joint actions as the real path to strengthen the democratic movement”.
