The problem of the motorcars import duties to get into Milinkievich’s presidential campaign

09/06/10

“Belarusian authorities continue keeping the motorcars owners in the dark unjustifiably long”, the Movement for Freedom (MFF) leader Alaksandr Milinkievich declared.

“It’s still not known what will happen with the customs duties on the import of motorcars for private individuals – will they be the same as the Russian customs duties or won’t they? It was planned initially that the tariffs will be unified from July 1, but later – due to the oil disputes – the customs office informed that the old rates will be preserved. The information appeared about the prepared protocol of temporary exclusion of goods imported by private individuals from the regime of the Common Customs Area. Allegedly, the agreement was reached not to change anything till 2012. However, this was made at the expert level. All of a sudden, Lukashenka and Medvedev agree to consider the compromise variants of solving the problems of the Customs Union… Our people became a “hostage” and suffers from the trade wars and games”, Alaksandr Milinkievich says.

“This is a very sensitive issue almost for every Belarusian family. People want at least a simple clearness: what will happen… This is not “a state for the people!” People have either to fuss or to wait. The people shall not suffer due to the big policy making, combinations or ambitions”, Milinkievich declared to the MFF press service.

According to Milinkievich, this urgent problem will certainly be reflected in his presidential campaign. Moreover, the MFF head declared his support of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) party’s initiative on holding the referendum on motorcars customs duties.
