MFF Astraviets town activist demands to bring to justice local officials

Ivan Kruk who run as a candidate at the local election accuses the local authorities in the violations of election rights of citizens, and in the pressure on the contest.

 

Kruk, the Movement for Freedom (MFF) activist, sent the appeals against the actions of the local officials who managed the Astraviets District Election Commission during the local election to the head of the Hrodna Region Executive Committee and to the Hrodna Region Prosecutor’s Office.

 

According to Kruk, the members of the Astraviets Election Commission Mr. Zimnitski and Mr. Svila forged the election documents in order not to let him take part in the election as a candidate. This occurred at the stage of verification of the citizens’ signatures, based on the results of which a decision on registration of a candidate is taken. The local officials forced the Astraviets residents to refuse from their signatures for the support of the democratic contender. After Kruk has submitted the citizens’ applications about the validity of their signatures for his support, an administrative minutes was drawn up against the activist for “the distribution of slander”.

 

In his appeal, Kruk notes that three more contenders were refused to be registered in the Astraviets district – as a result, the election to the Astraviets District Council was devoid of any alternative in every constituency.

In his appeal, the MFF activist draws the attention to the fact that the member of his initiative group Natalla Klimovich was forced to sign the letter of resignation from the Astravietskaye farm enterprise due to her active civil position.

 

Kruk asks the head of the Hrodna Region Executive Committee Siamion Shapira to dismiss the member of the Astraviets District Executive Committee Mr. Zimnitski based on the fact that he is undermining the prestige of the executive power with his unlawful actions. The activist thinks the Region Prosecutor should initiate a criminal case against the members of the Astraviets District Election Commission Mr. Zimnitski and Mr. Svila under Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
