Alaksandr Milinkievich meets Belarusian of New York (photos)

28/05/10

The meeting took place on May 27 in the public hall of the Belarusian autocephalous Orthodox church.

The event was held in the middle of workday, and so wasn’t populous − seven people came to it. Alaksandr Milinkievich noted that if only one Belarusian came to the meeting, he would have been happy to meet a fellow countryman. In this way began the talk organized by Viachka Stankievich, the head of the Union of the Belarusians of the World (UBW) − the oldest Belarusian organization existing in the US.

During the warm, friendly talk with the representatives of the Belarusian emigrants, the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) leader told about the state of the civil society in Belarus, about the internal political situation, about his plans for the participation in the next political campaign, and answered the questions about his latest meetings with the representatives of the US government, about the prospects of development of relations of Belarus with the EU and Russia, as well as answered other questions.

After the meeting that lasted some 2 hours, Milinkievich talked to Illa Kunitski from the Belarusian-American Youth Association − the organization existing under the UBW.
