For transparent elections
A new enlistment of the participants of the educational project named Observing the Elections: Theory and Practice is announced.
The United Center of Initiatives for Belarus (JuBIC), the Swedish International Liberal Centre (Silc), the European Humanitarian University (EHU), and the Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius (BHRH) announce the new enlistment of candidates for participation in the project named Observing the Elections: Theory and Practice.
The candidates will study under the intensive one-week educational programme in Vilnius developed by well-known Norwegian political analyst who has the experience of observing in numerous international missions. Following the successful completion of the programme, the candidates will receive a special certificate of the EHU and the Silc certificate. In addition to the course itself, they will also take part in the international mission on observation of the presidential election in Bosnia and Herzegovina or in Latvia on October 23, 2010 during which the participants will acquire the practical experience as the accredited, short-term, international observers. Purposeful and active participants will be invited to at least one more observation mission during 2011.
Potential candidates should:
• fill in the online application (accepted up to June 20, 2010);
• be of 18 to 35 years old;
• demonstrate a firm civil position, be active;
• be the members or participants of non-governmental organizations, civil initiatives or political parties;
• file the recommendation from the existing non-governmental organizations, civil initiatives, respected projects or political parties. Please, note that the recommendation should be sent separately – directly to the address of the project eotp@eotp.info by a person who recommends you;
• speak and understand English (preferably);
• have the possibility to participate in training and direct observation during the entire period (from September 23 till October 5, 2010).
Previous experience of observation of international or local elections is welcomed but isn’t obligatory.
Enlistment criteria:
1. Quality of motivation and results of interview;
2. High level of civil activeness;
3. Recommendation from authoritative and recognized NGOs, human rights advocates, civil activists, policy makers or political parties;
4. Competence in English.
All candidates will be informed of the results up to July 15, 2010.
The chosen candidates will be invited to an interview (by phone or by skype).
