MFF leader visits the United States

The program of the visit includes meetings with American policy makers, public servants, and leaders of worldwide known NGOs.

 

A four-day visit of Alaksandr Milinkievich to the US begins on Monday, May 24.

 

As part of the visit, the meetings in the Congress, in the Department of State, and in the organizations that cooperate with Belarus will be held. In particular, there are plans to hold the meetings with the former candidates for president – Democratic senator John Kerry and Republican senator John McCain.

 

Milinkievich will also have negotiations with the diplomats of the Department of State with the participation of the former US ambassador to Belarus Karen Steward, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor to the Secretary of State.

 

The negotiations with the leadership of the following organizations will be also held: the National Democracy Institute (NDI), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the International Republican Institute (IRI), and the Freedom House.

 

The leader of the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) will tell about the situation in Belarus, about the today’s challenges for the democratization of the political life in the country, and will discuss the strategy of the Belarusian pro-European forces at the forthcoming presidential election.

 

After Washington, Milinkievich will visit New York where a meeting with Belarusian emigrants to the US is to be held.
