Autukhovich and his colleagues are punished by imprisonment (photos)
The court sentence to the persons involved in the case of Vaukavysk town entrepreneurs was announced in Minsk.
Under the decision of the Supreme Court, Mikalay Autukhovich is sentenced to five years and two months of maximum security prison, while Uladzimir Asipienka and Alaksandr Laryn are sentenced to tree years of prison, and Mikhail Kazlou is sentenced to two years of prison. All accused persons are punished under the Article named “For Unlawful Actions with Weapon”.
Well-known politicians, the activists of political and civil organizations (the Movement for Freedom (the MFF), the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, the Young Front movement, and others), the representatives of the diplomatic missions, and just unindifferent people came to the building of the Supreme Court to support the prisoners of conscience.
Several dozens of people didn’t manage to get into the session hall owing to the lack of free seats. The people were standing at the steps of the building of the Supreme Court in order to support the accused persons. When the sentence was announced, those who brought flowers laid them at the steps of the building in protest. The activists raised the portraits of Autukhovich, and loudly voiced their resentment about the unfair sentence.
Several people were detained. They are charged with disorderly conduct.
For reference – On the eve of the sentence announcement, the MFF leader declared that Autukhovich’s case is of political and tailored nature. Autukhovich and other people accused under this case are the prisoners of conscience. The civil society should join its efforts in order to free every Belarusian political prisoner, and to discontinue political repressions in Belarus.
