An activist fined for an insult that wasn’t

29/04/10

The Kletsk District Court decided to penalize Siarhiey Panamarou with a Br350 thousand (€86) fine.

According to the witnesses of the head of the Kletsk District Housing and Utilities Service Mr. Navitski, the activist of the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) insulted him in public.

“The court had to rely exclusively on the testimony of the official’s perjurers. These people who testified against me weren’t even present at the moment of the incident”, Panamarou tells.

In reality, it was Panamarou who was insulted in public by Mr. Navitski. Two members of the Monuments Protection Society who were beside Panamarou during the incident immediately agreed to be witnesses in court. However, the representatives of the Monuments Protection Society didn’t manage to visit the court session on April 29.
