U Kashtana shop becomes safe
Wine and vodka sale outlet in Pruzhany town will now be open only till 11 p.m.
Under the decision of the Pruzhany District Executive Committee, the U Kashtana shop trading in alcoholic beverages at nighttime which led to numerous complaints on the part of the town residents will be open from 6 a.m. till 11 p.m.
The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activists helped the town residents explain the point of this problem to the local authorities. Pruzhany activists together with the interested citizens sent the collective appeal to the District Executive Committee asking to alter the opening time schedule of the U Kashtana shop. The Pruzhany residents’ initiative affected the economic interests of the Pruzhany state-owned trade company. This controversial issue was considered for two months. The sessions of two commissions on this problem took place during this period.
“We are satisfied with the District Executive Committee commission’s regulation on this issue. This wasn’t an easy decision for the executive authority, for the said sale facility yielded sufficient profit due to the nighttime operation. This is very good that the town leadership placed the safety and calm of the citizens above own financial interests”, the MFF coordinator Uladzimir Radzivonchyk declared.
For your reference – This “problem” shop was selling limitless amount of alcoholic beverages at nighttime which were consumed at the adjacent courtyard areas. Because of this, local residents had to witness swearing, street fights, and hooliganism, and the adjacent areas turned into one large garbage site. All this was sufficiently reducing the comfort of living of the adjacent houses’ dwellers.
