Ivan Kruk’s initiative group finally registered

The Hrodna Region Election Commission thinks there are no reasons to refuse to register the initiative group of the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) Astraviets town activist. Ivan Kruk collected over 200 signatures in three days.

The Hrodna Region Election Commission considered the Kruk’s complaint against non-registration of his initiative group, and made the decision that there are no reasons to refuse to register the MFF Astraviets activist’s initiative group. The Region Commission took the decision to register the Kruk’s group.

Despite the late start, Kruk has already collected the required number of signatures to run for the District Council.

“I’m totally satisfied with the Region Commission’s decision. The Astraviets District Commission has to act within the Law now. Our initiative group began collecting the signatures immediately after receiving the decision on registration. 230 people gave their signatures for my support in Astraviets in three days. The required number of signatures for delegating as candidate to the District Council is 75”, Kruk told us.

Previously, the Astraviets District Commission refused to register the Kruk’s initiative group for his alleged “violation of the principle of free participation in elections”. According to the District Commission, Ms. Klimovich was included into the initiative group’s list without her consent. Kruk informed that Klimovich refused to participate in collecting the signatures for him under the pressure of the local authorities, and lodged the complaint against the Astraviets District Commission’s decision to the Central Election Commission and to the Region Commission.
