Restorers or destroyers?
Minsk Legacy (Minskaya Spadchyna) state utilities company began unauthorized dismantling of the roof tile on the former Bernardine monastery building at the Kiryly-i-Miafodziya street.
Minsk Legacy workers began dismantling the roof on one of the buildings of the Bernardine monastery at the Kiryly-i-Miafodziya street 8 (former Vialikaya Biernardynskaya street) which is the second class historical and cultural valuable object.
Anton Astapovich, the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activist and the Monuments Protection Society head, notes that the restoration project hasn’t even been approved yet, nor was received the permission of the Ministry of Culture for work. Minsk Legacy operates at the site having no title documents.
For this reason, Astapovich sent letters to the Minsk City Executive Committee, to the Ministry of Culture, and to the General Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the activist, Minsk Legacy has repeatedly rudely violated the Law of the Republic of Belarus On Protection Of Historical And Cultural Legacy in what concerns preservation of history and culture monuments, and the procedure of work at the historical and cultural valuable objects – namely Articles 27, 28, 32, and 37 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus On Protection Of Historical And Cultural Legacy Of The Republic Of Belarus – and several other regulatory and legal instruments.
