Mrs. Seviarynets not allowed to be candidate

District administration has been counteracting to activist of Movement For Freedom Tacciana Seviarynets, candidate for the Parliament in the Horki electoral district (Viciebsk region) #11, to get registration in order to begin electoral campaign. Having chosen its usual approach of pressure on pro-democratic candidates authorities have come to intimidating members of initiative group.

 

Being threatened to loose shelter in a hostel where she lives with her two kids, Lidziya Karpovich has been forced to renounce her participation in the initiative group of the candidate. Moreover, district administration by force of this kind of renouncement, has found a ‘good reason’ to refuse registration of the whole initiative group supporting Seviarynets’s campaign.

 

Another member of the initiative group, Alena Dajneka has received, from a head of company she is working for, a warning to get dismissal if she does not claim her renouncement. But Alena stated that she will stay in the initiative group anyway.

 

It could sound strange but it is true. The head of district electoral commission in Viciebsk have not only called to other people of Tacciana’s team but visited some of them at home just to keep asking whether they support Tacciana still or have already got second thought.

 

On July 23 Tacciana is going to submit a new list of her initiative group to the district electoral commission, - press-service of establishing Committee of Belarusian Christian Democrats party reported.
