Homiel regional BIB coalition created
The Belarusian Independence Bloc (BIB) organizations existing in Homiel province signed the agreement on creating the province coalition, as well as the annex concerning the joint participation in local election campaigns.
The signatories include the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) (P. Kuzniatsou), the Belarusian Popular Front party (V. Putsitski), the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party (T. Zaitsava), the Young Front movement (A. Khmialnitski), the Young Front movement (I. Zaitsau), the Young Christian Democrats (V. Kalesnikava), and the Together (Razam) Solidarity Movement (K. Zhukouski).
The general mission of the Coalition is the joint efforts for the Republic of Belarus to develop as an independent, modern, and democratic state.
The MFF Homiel province coordinator Piotar Kuzniatsou thinks creating the regional BIB coalition is the logic stage of evolution of Belarusian democratic forces:
“Today, it became clear already that a union based only on antagonism to Lukashenka as such cannot lead to positive outcome. Protest messages make the population feel the corresponding emotions but do not persuade people to vote for democrats since such coalitions don’t propose anything clear – maybe communism, maybe socialism, maybe liberalism, or maybe nationalism. It is virtually impossible to propose something on behalf of the coalition which includes the representatives of every ideological trend. The BIB is a democratic organization which sends people a clear signal – first and foremost, we are for independence, democracy, and the European path. These values coincide with the values of the overwhelming majority of Belarusians, and in this lies our power and potential”, Kuzniatsou thinks.
