Pruzhany district authorities complicate election campaign
The Pruzhany District Executive Committee took the decision to prohibit the signature collection for candidates’ nomination in several places of Pruzhany town.
The Pruzhany District Executive Committee’s Decision No.141 prohibits making pickets with the aim to collect voters’ signatures for delegating the candidates for candidates’ nomination in near administrative buildings, the institutions of education, public health, culture, trade, public catering, at the public transport stops, near monuments, and in other places.
The population will be informed about this decision through the local radio and the district newspaper. The Executive Committee’s deputy head Mr. Kudravets is appointed to monitor the implementation of this decision.
The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activist Uladzimir Radzivonchyk thinks the local officials openly create obstacles for those contenders who want to take part in the election independently from the authorities.
“If you read this document attentively, you’ll see there are almost no places left in the town where an efficient picket for collecting the signatures for the support of a delegate could be held. At the same time, pro-government contenders do not need to make pickets, since the authorities collect signatures for them”, Radzivonchyk explains.
