To serve – not to toady

Pinsk Town Internal Affairs (Militia) Department deputy head who has become notorious for his active persecution of democratic activists was reduced to… a simple district militia officer.

This information became known to the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) Pinsk coordinator Yury Bakhtsierau from reliable sources.

“The former militia deputy head Mr. Vikulau controlled the scandalous operation on neutralization of the so called “special dangerous public disturber” Kanstantsin Chuvak in the last July. Then, at 7 a.m., militiamen penetrated into Chuvak’s apartment with the help of construction hoist to perform the search. Now, this militia official is downgraded which certainly pleases us. Let this be a lesson for others. Militia shall remember that their task is not to fight with the contest but to serve their people and to protect them from criminals”, the MFF Pinsk activist Yury Bakhtsierau says.

For reference – The reason of the extravagant visit of militia to Chuvak, the MFF activist, in July was the fact that he distributed several copies of the independent Pinsk Newspaper at the local Soniechny market. That day, the militia confiscated Chuvak’s correspondence with the officials and with courts, and his political literature and disks. After that, he was taken to the Pinsk Town Internal Affairs Department together with his eleven months old child to give his explanations.
