Unlawful construction continuing?
The Inspection on Construction Monitoring and Control (ICMC) made the decision to stop the work at the area of Kolasa and Kalinina streets. The construction company ignores this order.
The residents of house No.32 at Kalinina street addressed to the Minsk Department on Construction Monitoring and Inspection. They think the erection of the apartment house in their courtyard is being performed with several violations: there was no public hearings procedure, the residents of the adjacent houses were not familiarized with the project, trees are being chopped down without the residents’ consent, and the courtyard territory is being spoiled.
On December 17, ICMC issued the order to stop the work, since Mr. Lapatsik, ICMC deputy chair, thinks that the facts described in the residents’ address are true. However, the work still continues at the construction site.
“Ten days have passed since the order was issued, but construction continues both in the daytime and at night. Those who do this act as raiders. First, they will swiftly build the house, and then they will confront us with the accomplished fact”, Sviatlana who lives in house No.32 expresses her resentment.
The meeting of officials and citizens on the problem of dense building development is planned near the construction site tomorrow at 11 a.m. The participants will include the representatives of the Piershamayski District Administration, and the representatives of the investors and of the construction company. The activists aim to enforce the implementation of the State Construction Monitoring Committee’s decision.
“We are confident we would achieve the positive outcome, since our demands are precise, clear, and lawful. The facts of law violation are obvious. We hope we would be able to stop this case and the guilty persons would be punished. The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) will continue to monitor this situation and to help those Minskers whose rights are violated”, Yuras Mielashkievich, the MFF Minsk coordinator, declares.
