Movement for a safe bridge

05/01/10

The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) Dobrush town activists start the campaign for collecting the signatures for the construction of a new, safe foot bridge over the Iputs river.

The signatures for the appeal will be collected in January and February. This appeal to the Dobrush District Executive Committee and to the local deputies’ councils will contain the request to consider the issue of constructing a new bridge over the Iputs river which would join the town center with the Kamuna residential district.

The current foot bridge which joins the Kamuna residential district with the central part of the town is in the emergency condition. The use of this bridge by pedestrians is prohibited. However, several hundreds of people use it every day, including children, Hero of Labour paper factory workers, and pension age people, since this way is much shorter.

“The officials prohibited to use the bridge and do nothing more. In a certain degree, the prohibition exempts them from responsibility in the case of an accident. But the problem remains. People don’t want to use another way wasting time on bypassing”, the MFF activist Mark Sanikau says.

The Dobrush District Executive Committee considered the construction of the new bridge, but nothing has been done till present.
