Officials agree with parking lots construction plans in the South-West sub-district
According to the Maskouski District Administration head, the proposals of the South-West civil initiative concerning the construction of additional parking lots will be taken into account when developing the design documentation on improvement of courtyard areas.
Mr. Dokur, the Maskouski District Administration head, informs that almost every project on the construction of parking lots could be implemented (9 projects were submitted), except area 8 since it is located at the existing pedestrian precinct.
“However, Mr. Dokur says nothing about the degree of consideration of the South-West’s proposals and when the courtyard areas development will begin. We will ask the local authorities all these questions in the nearest future”, Yuras Karetnikau, the MFF supporter and the South-West coordinator, says.
The South-West’s proposals on the construction of additional parking lots in the South-West sub-district were supported by more than a thousand people. The South-West activists proposed the projects of nine areas. The letters with the citizens’ signatures and with draft designs were sent to the Minsk City Executive Committee Architecture Committee, to Maskouski district Housing and Repairs Service, to Maskouski district Administration, and to Remautador (state road repairs enterprise). The implementation of these projects would allow creating additional 250 parking places in the South-West sub-district.
Recently, the activists of the Parking Lots for South-West campaign prepared the draft solutions of additional areas which would allow increasing the number of new parking places up to 500. This would sufficiently decrease the problem of placing private motorcars in the residential area.
