Pinsk residents force utility services to clean up stair halls

24/12/09

The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activists sent request to the Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre, and – after this gave no result − to the prosecutor’s office.

The house No.64 residents at IPD street got in touch with us. Their apartments haven’t had capital repairs for more than 40 years. There was no regular cleaning-up of the adjacent territory and the stair halls. We submitted requests to the relevant agencies. Recently, we received satisfying answers from the prosecutor’s office and from the Ministry of Public Health. Some positive changes also occurred: regular cleaning-up of the houses at IPD street has eventually begun”, the MFF activist Yury Bakhtsierau tells.

The prosecutor’s office founded out that Pinsk Hygiene and Epidemiology Centre violated Decree No.2 of the head of state of January 14, 2005 On Improvement of Work with Population. Persons responsible for this were fined with 2 base values  each (appr. €17).

The Ministry of Public Health, in its turn, informed that it was proved that Housing and Utilities Service No.1 violated Sanitary Rules and Standards On Hygienic Requirements to Improvement, Equipment Installation, and Maintenance of Residential Houses. Administrative case has been initiated against Housing and Utilities Service head.
