Informing State Officials about European integration Advantages

19/12/09

The Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activists sent the booklet named Europe for Belarusian Public Officers to a range of the governmental agencies.

The booklet was prepared as part of the Belarusian European Forum of November 14. It includes the list of explicit advantages with explanations which Belarusian officials would acquire in the case of closer integration with the European Union. The clear benefits include extension of contacts with the European colleagues, the possibility to advanced training, implementation and use of the state-of-the-art technologies, growth of the local authorities’ role, etc. The booklet also includes the information on some international programmes.

“We sent over 100 letters to major national and regional level Belarusian state agencies and organizations. We plan to increase our mailing base by several times in the nearest future by way of inclusion of the addresses of the district level government structures”, Yuras Mielashkievich, the MFF Minsk coordinator, says.

At present, the booklets are already sent to the House of Representatives, the Council of the Republic, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the Central Election Committee, the ministries and committees of the Belarusian government, the state-owned corporate groups, the City Executive Committees and the Regional Executive Committees, and to a range of other institutions.

“The information found in this booklet is rather actual today. Belarusian officials and managers do not know enough yet of the benefits which cooperation with the EU may give when implementing various projects. It’s very important the officials have a positive vision of the European integration processes. It is because of this that we arrange this mailing”, Yuras Mielashkievich adds.
