Heritage for sale and demolition

The Brest Region Executive Committee has put for sale several historical and cultural monuments which should be demolished in accordance with the conditions of the auction.


Dzianis Turcheniak, the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) Brest coordinator, informed that the Brest Region Executive Committee intends to hold the auction On December 15. The real estate objects which could be demolished in accordance with the conditions of the auction include the buildings which have the status of historical and cultural valuable objects and are included in the list of historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Belarus.


Historical and cultural valuable objects which should be demolished include houses No.26 and No.28 at the Pamiezhnikau street, house No.23 at the Lenina street, house No.12 at the Astrouski street, houses No.48 and No.50 at the Masherava avenue, and house No.26 at the 17th of September street.


“This auction will take place tomorrow. The civil community still has some time left to influence the city authorities and to force them either to remove these real estate objects from the sale or to oblige the purchasers to preserve and protect the buildings as the compulsory condition”, Turcheniak thinks.
