Belarus Remains on the United Europe’s Agenda
The European Parliament will resume the consideration of the resolution on the situation in Belarus next week.
The decision of the European Parliament’s presidium to resume the consideration of the Belarusian issue was a result of Aliaksandr Milinkievich’s meetings and contacts during the European People’s Party congress as well as of his previous requests and of the EPP resolution on Belarus.
The European Parliament’s presidium will discuss a resolution on the situation in Belarus during its plenary session next week in Strasbourg. The basis of the European Parliament’s resolution will be the EPP resolution which was passed unanimously. Milinkievich points out that this decision has great importance for our country.
The EPP resolution provides an assessment of today’s situation in Belarus, mentions the latest facts of pressure on the civil community, and includes the call on the authorities to respect the civil rights.
Today, Milinkievich takes part in the EPP Summit which will be attended by 13 heads of governments as well as by leaders of the centre-right parties from the EU countries and from the EU partner countries. The summit of the key European policy makers is the concluding event of the EPP congress which takes place on December 9-10 in Bonn.
