Respect for Human Rights as the Shortest Path to Country’s Well-being (photos)

11/12/09

The Homiel city Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activists came out into the streets to congratulate Homiel citizens with the holiday – namely, the Day of Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

As part of the celebration, the passers-by received the leaflets from the young people with a festive message and information on the importance of respect of human rights in modern society.

According to the Homiel city MFF coordinator Piotr Kuzniatsou, the states proclaiming human rights as the greatest value find their path to prosperity and stability quite quickly:

“Today, both the Belarusian authorities and the Belarusian society as a whole have insufficient understanding of the role of human rights not only as humanitarian guarantees for every person but also as the universal means of state governance when the main objective of the state is the creation of a well-to-do, just, and stable society. Implementation of human rights guaranties civil interests balance and reduces the possibility of existence of unsatisfied people in the country to zero. Thus, respect to the rights of every citizen and their implementation is the shortest path to any country’s prosperity which is clearly seen by the example of the Western European countries and the USA where human rights are implemented unconditionally”.
