The Movement for Freedom will be seeking victory in local elections

08/12/09

On December 7 the MFF deputy chairman Viktar Karneyenka, during debate with Anatol Labiedzka, leader of the United Civic Party, organized by the web-page “My” in Minsk, stated that the Movement for Freedom will be struggling “nothing but for victory.”

“We are ready to sacrifice the quantity of candidates in order to get better quality of work in elections”, - underlined Karneyenka. He couldn’t anticipate how many MFF representatives of the democratic forces will get local councilor’s mandates.

“The list of our candidates for local elections may include approximately 100 people. All this people will be able to compete with other candidates,” – said Karneyenka.

Talking about the presidential elections, the politician noted that “the democratic forces have little resources now”.

“The rating of the MFF leader Aliaksandr Milinkevich is the highest among other opposition candidates. This is our resource - the resource of the democratic opposition. If someone shows that another democratic candidate has bigger resources, we are be ready to discuss other options,” – underlines Karneyenka.

The local elections are planned for the second half of April 2010 and the presidential election should take place at the beginning of 2011.
