Homiel pays tribute to the memory of the fighters against fascism (photos)
On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the liberation of Homiel, the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activists laid flowers to the monument to the liberation soldiers.
Homiel was the first Belarusian region centre to be liberated from the fascist occupants. This happened on November 26, 1943.
On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the liberation of Homiel, the MFF activists took part in the festive laying of wreaths and flowers to the monument to the liberation soldiers and members of the underground resistance (the Eternal Flame Monument). This has already become a tradition for the local democrats.
The MFF activist Aliaksandr Protska thinks the authorities’ monopolization of the holidays relating to the events of the Great Patriotic War is inadmissible:
“We have no moral right to forget those who gave their lives for the liberation of our home city. We come here each year to pay the tribute to the memory of the liberators. They fought for their own and for our Freedom. And it is this which is most important!”
