Aliaksandr Milinkevich calls for prisoners release in Cuba

Minsk, 21 May 2008

 

"As a representative of Belarusian democratic forces I call for immediate and uncondtional release of Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet Gonzalez, Dr. Jose Luis Garcia Paneque and all the other political prisoners in Cuba who were all sentenced for mere exercising their basic rights guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

The Belarusian democratic forces who struggle for immediate and uncondtional release of the three Belarusian political prisoners, Aliaksandr Kazulin, Andrei Kim and Siarhei Parsiukevich, express their solidarity with all those who stand for human rights and democratic freedoms worldwide. We are convinced that the Cuban people as well as the Belarusian people deserve a democratic government that respects rights and freedoms of their citizens. The release of all political prisoners is in both cases a first necessary step towards openness and reintegration into international community of democratic nations.
