The Movement for Freedom has announced a competition “What do you know about the EU?” what is devoted to the Belarusian European Forum that will be held on 14 November 2009 in Minsk. The competition’s organizers will award winners with a trip to one of European capitals and other valuable prizes, including invitations to the Belarusian European Forum.

Authorities responded to citizens’ address but denied a talk with them (photo)
There was a big group of officials that visited the Sevastopalski Park (Minsk) to “tackle the problem” at the place itself. The inspecting commission included assistant of the head of state, senior inspector in Minsk Anatol Kalinin, head of the Pershamajski administration in Minsk Mikalaj Kotau, head of architecture and city planning Committee Siarhei Kazlouski as well as an assistant to the head of the Minsk City Government. It was the latter who personally invited the local activist Mrs Valantsina Shaleinikava the Park for a meeting at the very place where a heating main was planned to be built.

Pretexts for authorities to deny meetings
There are a number of pretexts which local authorities use for not allowing activists to hold delegates’ nomination meetings for the forthcoming Belarusian European Forum.
